Our New Book - sorry photo heavy...

So, I entered my other blog at shutterfly.com to try and get 50 free holiday cards, and I got them, so I ordered the 50 free cards, all you had to do was pay shipping and handling, not a bad deal. Well, the other day I got an email about a free photo book. I've been wanting one for a while. So I decided to do one of our first year in Hawaii. I thought I'd share it with ya'll. I'll also share my holiday card as well, since I'd been meaning to do that...

Here is the card, we did it kind of late, and so I decided to do a New Years card...it says "Tis the Season: May your New Year be filled with love and happiness! Love, Steven & Amanda"
the picture is outside our home, taken by our wonderful neighbor, Bobbi!
Onto the photo book...

Welp, Happy New Years, really late

Yikes, I can't believe I haven't updated this year, and we're almost a month into 2011.

January came all to quickly, and the LT had to leave shortly after the new year. He's in California for a month, right now they're in "the box" and were not allowed to have cell phones, so I haven't spoken to him since Jan 12, I think. He should be out of "the box" soon.

I think I struggled more with him being gone when he was allowed to call, but was too busy to actually do it. I hated knowing that he had his cell phone, and would have been able to call, but he was just way to busy and wanted to sleep, instead of talk to me. And now that he isn't able to call, it hasn't really bothered me. The first day maybe, and now that it's been nearly 2 weeks, it is. I think this will be the longest we've gone with out talking. When he was in BOLC in Oklahoma he went to the field for a week, and left his phone with me, and that was hell, especially being in a strange place, where I couldn't leave the hotel room. But now I am able to come and go when I want, and have friends to do things with. Back in Oklahoma, we weren't married, so I didn't have a military ID and couldn't go to the commissary or the PX and I couldn't leave post. Anyways, now I'm just over this whole not being able to hear from him, and I know he's alright, because no news is good news, but I miss him. But I know this is good for me. As it is helping me get ready for when he leaves. Who knows when I'll hear from him, or how often I will hear from him. I hope daily, but that just might not happen. So while the soldiers are off training for the deployment, the spouses are home, training for the deployment in their own ways.

Not much else to write about, just figured I'd update ya'll, and let ya'll know what's going on. A whole lot of nothing, lol!

Salute Battery's and New Years

Today the LT was in charge of a salute battery for a LTG's funeral. Here are some pictures on the 25thID Flickr page. Everything went pretty well, they only had one misfire, out of 15 fires, not to bad, but I don't know much about it. HA! Anyways, I thought I'd share the pictures here, there are a lot of them, and there are some of the LT, front and center, even though they're wearing the Greens they all look great!

I can't believe it's the end of year, and on top of that, it's the end of a decade, a whole 10 years, and that just makes me crazy to think. 10 years ago I was getting ready for second semester of freshman year, and I never even imagined I'd be married, let alone a birth mom and an Army wife. I couldn't be happier with the way my life turned out. And I can't wait to see how the next 10 years go!

We're going to ring in the new year with our neighbors, one of our neighbors is home on R&R, and another's parents are in town, so it should be a great time! We're going to have lots of food and great conversations and just a lot of fun. I'm certainly looking forward to it!! I found a recipe for Red Lobster's stuffed mushrooms, so I'm going to give those a try, the ones I made the other day were alright, but I just didn't really like them. And I might make the cheddar bay biscuits, and I will be making Chicken Divan...it should be GREAT!!!

Happy New Year ya'll!!!
